ThyssenKrupp Elevator opens up a new Greater London office in Richmond

ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG based in Düsseldorf, Germany, the third-largest elevator company in the world, has combined several of its London offices into two large offices. One is strategically placed in the city to serve our center London clients, and the other, the larger of the two, is in Richmond serving the greater London Area. “These new offices combine our forces and give us the necessary infrastructure to serve this important market” - says Matt Scanlan, Executive Director of ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK.

The UK operation of ThyssenKrupp Elevator was established in 1983 and now installs, refurbishes and services lifts and escalators with over 1055 employees throughout the country.

The manufacture of lifts and escalators is carried out at ThyssenKrupp Elevator factories in Germany and France and shipped to the UK. Scenic lift cars or special finishes to lift car interiors are carried out at our specialist workshops in Nottingham and Leeds.

Examples and quality of our work can be seen in such prestige sites as London Wall, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Minster Court, BT-Tower, Austin Reed Flagship store and Selfridges London store.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK has grown organically and by acquisition. Major acquisitions were Hammond + Champness purchased from Dover Corporation, USA in July 1997,

D+A Lifts in 2001 and Britannic Lift in 2003. Today ThyssenKrupp Elevator is among the top three player in the UK.

Also in the area of elevator modernization or new installations ThyssenKrupp Elevator sets new benchmarks. TWIN, the most recent innovation of ThyssenKrupp Elevator, will be actively marketed in the UK. It is a sophisticated elevator system with two cars – one arranged upon the other – in one single shaft. The two cars are not connected with each other and can drive independently to different levels using the same track. Its main advantages are higher lift capacities and less construction volume. Taking for example a group of four conventional elevators – that is one elevator per shaft - 40 % more passengers can quickly move from one level to the other while also adding 25 % more available space. The TWIN elevator system has won several awards including the most recent “Elevator World Project of the Year Award”.

With activities in over 60 countries at more than 800 locations ThyssenKrupp Elevator is the third largest elevator company in the world. It has some 30,000 employees and achieved sales of approx. 3.4 billion euros in the fiscal year ending September 30, 2003. Products include passenger and freight elevators, escalators and moving walks, stair and platform lifts as well as passenger boarding bridges plus top quality service for the entire range.
