TK Elevator selected to provide vertical mobility infrastructure for Fira Barcelona’s new Pavilion Zero

Düsseldorf (Germany), September 24, 2026 – TK Elevator (TKE), a global leader in vertical transportation and urban mobility, is taking part in the development of Fira Barcelona’s new Pavilion Zero, a project promoted by Fira 2000. The company will install around 60 vertical transportation units, including passenger elevators, freight elevators, platform lifts and escalators, supporting the flow of people and materials in a high-traffic environment.

The expansion strengthens Fira Barcelona’s Gran Via venue as one of Europe’s leading trade fair and congress locations, with the new Pavilion Zero designed to add flexible exhibition and congress capacity for major international events such as MWC Barcelona, Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) and Smart City Expo World Congress. The project adds 60,000 m² to the Gran Via venue, bringing the complex to around 300,000 m² and further strengthening its capacity for major international events. Fira Barcelona welcomes up to 3 million visitors annually.

European manufacturing for a high-capacity venue

Much of the equipment for Pavilion Zero will be manufactured across TK Elevator’s European industrial network in Spain and Germany. This includes 26 velino escalators with 1,000-mm-wide steps and a 30-degree incline. Designed to bridge height differences of 4 to 10 meters, they will help manage large visitor flows between the building’s levels.

The project also includes 20 EOX elevators. EOX is TKE’s natively digital, eco-efficient and AI-ready elevator platform. The units include high-capacity elevators for up to 1,600 kg and 21 passengers, with speeds of up to 3 m/s and travel heights of up to 74 meters. The scope also comprises 1,000-kg elevators for 13 passengers, additional 1,600-kg units serving different areas of the building and a 1,000-kg panoramic elevator.

For the venue’s demanding logistics operations, TK Elevator will deliver a powerful combination of 9,000-kg freight elevators, 10,000-kg platform lifts and highly engineered 6,500-kg electric freight elevators. Together, these solutions will enable the efficient movement of heavy equipment and materials during event setup, operation and dismantling.
