TK Elevator supports passenger well-being and safe mobility at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in China

  • TK Elevator supplies more than 100 elevators customized with voice and gesture controls to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in China to enable touchless usability
  • TK Elevator responds to the increased demand for comfortable and safe mobility solutions, fulfilling customer needs for well-being in public places during the pandemic and beyond

Düsseldorf, June 8, 2022 – Contactless and safe travel at busy locations is an increasing requirement for mobility solutions, especially since the COVID pandemic. At Chongqing Jiangbei Airport, an important air traffic hub in the western Chinese major economic zone of Chengdu-Chongqing, TK Elevator enables exactly this with innovative solutions and products: More than 100 customized elevators with gesture and voice recognition eliminate the need for any contact with surfaces in public spaces. TK Elevator is thereby expanding its portfolio of safer and convenient mobility services for passengers and airport visitors in China.

In the future, users will be able to simply call and operate the elevator through hand gestures and voice command. This helps to avoid physical interaction with elevator surfaces and buttons that are prone to attracting viruses and bacteria. The customized touchless elevator offering is ideal for urban spaces with high-volume passenger traffic such as airports and other types of transportation hubs.

“Product innovation in urban transport systems is vital to the economic development of countries and destinations during challenging times such as the pandemic. New ideas are essential to raising transportation hubs to new levels of efficiency,” says Jürgen Böhler, CEO of TK Elevator Asia Pacific. “As a mobility partner, TK Elevator prides itself on understanding and quickly responding to the needs of customers and passengers alike. Our customized elevator operating solutions for the airport in Chongqing further underline this strength.”

The expansion of the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is set to be a key growth driver and one of the most important infrastructure enhancements for Western China in the nation’s 14th Five-Year Plan. It outlines China’s strategy to further advance its economic and social development until 2025.

TK Elevator is one of the market and innovation leaders in China. Its elevators, escalators and moving walks are heavily represented at international and domestic airports including Beijing, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Inner Mongolia. The 100+ strong fleet of elevators supplied to the new T3B terminal at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, along with more than 300 other previously installed elevator units from TK Elevator will further reinforce safe and convenient transportation for travelers around China’s Western aviation hub.
