S200 Stairlift by TK Elevator wins Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021

  • TK Elevator solution prevails in the category “Product Design”
  • Jury convinced by overall smart concept and innovative details
  • The S200 maximum custom design fits perfectly into every home

Düsseldorf, 14.04.2021 – The S200 stairlift by TK Elevator has just won the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 for its outstanding design quality. Conceived by Business Unit TK Home Solutions and designed by the internationally renowned Pearson Lloyd design studio, the S200 is the result of a five-year process managed by TK Elevator’s state-of-the-art factory in the Netherlands. It comprises the latest ergonomic design and technology giving its users a unique mobility solution.

The S200 offers unrivalled ergonomics with the patented Advanced Swivel Levelling (ASL), where the seat and footrest rotate together ensuring the closest distance to the staircase. Another outstanding design feature is the automatic folding of the seat and footrest. The stairlift can be stored, taking up minimal space on the staircase with just the push of a button. It is positioned at a convenient height and when in motion the seat and footrest stay aligned keeping the back and knees from twisting, giving the user maximum comfort.

“TK Home Solutions is honored to be awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 for our S200 stairlift. It offers unprecedented amounts of innovation, design, and comfort for our customers. Many customized options were thought out to ensure the perfect fit in every home. The ergonomic concept guarantees maximum safety and comfort for the customer. I am extremely proud of our engineering and design efforts.” says Mauro Carneiro, CEO TK Home Solutions.

The tapered armrests give customers both a secure grip and extra support when sitting down or standing up and can open for easy transfer from the stairlift to a wheelchair. The S200 also offers a special feature with its built-in call-device located on the armrest that allows the user to call up to three contacts such as friends, family, and medical advisers. Ensuring maximum safety.

“Winning a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 for the S200 stairlift is a great accolade for the entire project team. As the proportion of 3rd age increases, design will have to accept this challenge on many important products. It’s fantastic that Red Dot has recognized the quality and innovation within this stairlift design,” adds Luke Pearson, Co-Founder of Pearson Lloyd.

The Red Dot Award that comprises the categories “Product Design”, “Brands & Communication Design”, and ”Design Concept” is one of the world’s largest international design competitions offering a platform to designers and manufacturers to evaluate quality for good design of their products. The jury had determined the winners out of more than 18,000 submissions from designers, companies, and organizations from more than 70 countries.
