TK Elevator has installed many heavy-duty outdoor escalators and moving walks in challenging environments, such as on icy mountains, in the high-salinity marine environments of harbours, and even in some of the hottest, driest and sandiest airports in the world. Why are escalators and moving walks in train and metro stations illuminated?

Passenger traffic lights indicate to users the direction and availability of an escalator. Different symbols, signs and colours tell an approaching user that an escalator is running in the desired direction, in the opposite direction, or temporarily out of order. Two-way traffic lights are used when an escalator operates in both directions and starts when approached from a specific direction. Additionally, well-designed escalator lighting makes any infrastructure site more attractive, improves safety levels, gives clear guidance to passengers, and has a proven impact on people’s moods.
