Airbus Germany and ThyssenKrupp Aufzüge on the way up

The Airbus plant in Hamburg, Germany assembles parts for the world`s biggest passenger aircraft, the Airbus 380. From next year, these parts will be transported to the plant`s 2,000 employees in elevators from ThyssenKrupp. The company recently received an order to supply and install 13 elevators, including 8 freight elevators each with a capacity of 6,900 kilos. Installation work will commence in April 2004 and is scheduled for completion by early 2005.

"We already have some unusual references at Airbus," says Christoph Eisenberg from the sales and service branch in Hamburg. "Last year ThyssenKrupp Aufzüge supplied a freight elevator capable of transporting up to 15 metric tons of material to the warehouse. The elevator car measures 7.5 by 7.5 meters and is 4.10 meters high. At around 56 square meters, it is bigger than some people`s apartments. To put it another way, 200 people - the equivalent of 19 soccer teams - could travel in the elevator at the same time."

ThyssenKrupp Aufzüge GmbH is a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is one of the largest elevator companies in the world, with activities in over 60 countries at more than 800 locations. ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG has some 29,000 employees and achieved sales of approx. 3.5 billion euros in fiscal 2001/2002 (year ended Sept. 30, 2002). The company`s products include passenger and freight elevators, elevator components, escalators and moving walks, stair and platform lifts, and passenger boarding bridges plus top quality service for the entire range.
