Düsseldorf (Germany), July 9, 2025 – TK Elevator (TKE), a global leader in vertical transportation and urban mobility solutions, has been honored with the with the Safety Award by the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Woodworking and Metalworking Industries (BGHM). The comprehensive Safety Transformation Program (STP), tailored specifically to the demanding technical environments of elevator manufacturing, installation, and maintenance, was recognized for its outstanding contribution. Every day, several thousand service technicians in TKE’s German organization work in complex settings such as elevator shafts, machine rooms, or construction sites at customer locations.
The aim of the TKE Safety Transformation Program (STP) is to identify and eliminate everyday hazards at an early stage, or to minimize them to an absolute minimum, and to sustainably strengthen safety awareness at all levels. The focus is on a modern, behavior-based approach that is rooted in trust, open communication, and clear accountability.
Key elements of the program include structured risk assessments such as the “Last Minute Risk Assessment” (LMRA), the “STOP unsafe work” principle, and regular safety dialogues. Managers, supervisors, and operational teams are all equally involved, helping to further develop and embed a safety culture throughout the organization.

Safety as a lived core value
The award is presented by BGHM for projects or initiatives that make a special contribution to occupational safety and serve as outstanding examples for the industry.
“Safety is not just a set of rules, but an attitude,” says Christian Fongern, CEO of TK Elevator’s German business. “With our occupational safety program, we foster a culture in which every individual takes responsibility – for themselves and for others. The award from BGHM is strong recognition for our teams and proof that we are on the right track.”
Responsibility across the entire value chain
TK Elevator, a global company, has consistently strengthened its occupational safety approach in recent years – including in supplier and subcontractor management. Safety is a core company value, and TKE stands fully behind its commitment: All employees and partner companies should return
home healthy and safe every day. This philosophy was further reinforced in 2023 with the global rollout of the company-wide “We Get Home” safety program. With a clear methodology and worldwide implementation, the program makes a major contribution to the sustainable integration of a safety culture.

A strong signal for prevention and collaboration
The award ceremony took place on July 2 and 3 as part of BGHM’s specialist event “Elevator Symposium”. TKE’s OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) team was present to accept the award. The prize is not only recognition for the work accomplished, but also motivation to continue advancing the issue of safety with the highest priority and in close collaboration with all stakeholders – worldwide.
