Moving people in residential buildings

Today, we are in the midst of a major demographic shift, with more and more people moving into cities. This means that planning and design requirements for residential buildings and the way houses are built are both changing.

Providing mobility and comfort for homes

For example, some buildings are being built to accommodate several generations of a single family. Others are being designed to support a diverse range of lifestyles or specific types of use.

In all these situations, mobility is an important factor in terms of quality of life. And as a company, TK Elevator’s mission is to enhance mobility in residential buildings – affordably, imaginatively and without compromising comfort and style

Can I retrofit an elevator to my building?

Sure. In general there are quite a few ways to build a lift into existing houses, depending on the size of the building and its structural stability. For example, you can build a glass lift shaft on the outside of the building and connect it to your stairwell. You can also install a small home lift with a shaft in a two-floor private house. TK Elevator even offers stairlifts or platform lifts to move independently and comfortably within your own four walls, especially if it becomes difficult to take the stairs.

We would love to hear from you to find the right solution together.

How much space is needed for a residential elevator?

The size of an elevator depends on many factors, for example: How many floors does your house have and how many people live in it? How heigh are the floors/ceilings? Which local regulations apply? Do you need a barrier-free entrance?

Our experienced team is ready to provide an in-depth consult, but to give you an example: For a small standard elevator, like our synergy 100 with a 450 kg cabin (6 passengers max) the minimum shaft dimensions will be 1495 mm width and 1540 mm depth.

A cabin height of 2200 mm, plus the heights of reduced shaft head (3400 mm) and pit (1000 mm) need to be added with an average distance of xxxx mm per floor (depending on your project) to estimate the minimum shaft height.

Please contact your TK Elevator sales team for guaranteed shaft dimensions for specific projects.

How much does it cost to put an elevator in a house?

The costs of an elevator installation can vary profoundly, depending on factors like number of floors, travel height, numbers of people and apartments in the building, code compliances, individual design, technical features and many more.

That’s why we at TK Elevator see it as our duty to consult you and to calculate an offer for your specific lift project.

What is the cheapest residential elevator?

In addition to the purchase price, the total cost of a lift also includes the annual operating and maintenance costs, as well as any repairs and modernisations.

At TK Elevator, we place the highest value on safety and sustainability. For example, EOX, our new eco-efficient and natively digital elevator platform, brings premium specs to the entry level standard. With its regenerative drive and innovative eco-mode it actively saves energy in your building. Thanks to cloud-based smart maintenance, proven to actively prevent breakdowns, EOX means an up to 50% reduction in unscheduled service visits.
