ATLANTA (March 1, 2019) – thyssenkrupp Elevator has started its transition into its new North American headquarters complex near The Battery Atlanta with employees today moving into the Business Headquarters (BHQ) at 3100 Interstate North Circle in Pennant Park.

Located only 10 minutes from the future site of the Corporate Headquarters (CHQ) and Innovation and Qualification Center (IQC) – the other buildings that will comprise thyssenkrupp Elevator’s North American Headquarters – the BHQ will house the sharedservices group across the building’s fourth, fifth and sixth floors.

“Today is a very exciting day for our organization as the vision we outlined last summer for a new world-class headquarters is now becoming a reality,” said Steve Wedge, CFO and Interim CEO at thyssenkrupp Elevator North America.

Construction on the CHQ and IQC remains on schedule to begin later this year, with completion expected by July 2021 and final move-in by summer 2022.

When completed, the thyssenkrupp Elevator North American complex will house more than 900 full-time employees, and will include a state-of-the-art, 420-foot-tall elevator qualification and test tower – the tallest elevator test tower in the U.S.

With 18 shafts, the test tower can be used to trial new concepts and product pilots, including high-speed elevators, the two-cabins-per-shaft elevator system, TWIN, as well as the world’s first rope-less and sideways-moving elevator system, MULTI. In addition, the test tower will also conduct robust tests to ensure compliance with stringent safety requirements on standard elevators.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the IQC and elevator test tower will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
