This course is designed to be an informational elevator education presentation geared towards the architect, specifier, and designers of low-rise buildings (less than 40 feet).

The learning objectives for this class are:

• Identify what is classified as a low-rise building, understand the persona of the typical passengers and their particular concerns
• Discuss the various advanced technologies that are available or on the horizon for improving the low-rise building tenant’s elevator ride experience
• Examine the code-related improvements for rider safety and comfort with in-car emergency communications and upgrades with a multimedia / infotainment screen and customizable touchscreen floor calling buttons
• Review the future of building management interactions with elevator control systems and analysis for improved passenger experience.

This class will give attendees an overview of what a machine room-less elevator is, low- and mid-rise applications, and more detailed information regarding the different types and components of MRLs. The learning objectives for this class are:

• Understand what Machine Room-Less Elevator are and their benefits. Factors that determine this type of elevator are also discussed
• Learn the elevator system, from pit to overhead, which describes the major components and supports the protection of the occupants of the building
• Understand MRL consideration by comparing hydraulic and traction MRL. Also understand the differences in speed as well as related ride quality factors that affect passenger’s efficient building travel

This course highlights dual-car elevators — a new vertical transportation solution with two independently-operating elevator cabins in the same hoistway. Dual-car elevators save building space, reduce passenger travel time, and improve building energy efficiency. The learning objectives for this class are:

• Explain the reasoning for the TWIN elevator system: traffic analysis, performance requirements, ride time, dispatching and other advantages
• Details of safety chain with TWIN: Intelligent allocation of calls, monitoring of minimum safety distances, emergency stop function and automatic engagement of safety gear
• Explain the challenge that comes with traditional elevator systems: net usable area, vertical transportation in very tall buildings, sky lobby transfer stops and other problems
• TWIN advantages and characteristics over the double-decker elevator system and configurations

This course is designed to be a thought-provoking elevator education presentation geared towards the architect, specifier, and designers of high-rise buildings (~20-100 stories). The learning objectives for this class are:

• Identify what is classified as a high-rise building and discuss the core design from a structural perspective
• Discuss the various design factors driving the structure as a whole, and planning for optimum elevator performance that positively impacts the building tenants
• Examine the different vertical transportation choices between conventional high speed elevators, double deck or dual car elevators along with innovative rope-less elevators, plus the need for escalators in some scenarios. Innovations create better experiences for the building occupants
• Review the pertinent building codes and requirements for the high-rise buildings which ensure the safety and comfort of the riding public

This course discusses with architects about general contractor’s expectations and methods for working with an elevator company to provide the building with a safe public vertical transportation means. The well-being of occupants is enhanced with a reliable elevator system that is improved with environmentally friendly products.

The learning objectives for this class are:

• Learn that before the start of a new installation project, decisions are made to improve the safety, health and welfare of the riding public and occupants of the building. Architects will understand the importance of early communication between the general contractor and elevator installers to ensure that the project is worked as planned
• Understand that ensuring the building owner’s decisions for the occupant’s welfare are agreed upon and recorded in the contracts and submittals
• Learn the requirements during the pre-installation process and the installation sequence that will provide a safe, reliable vertical transportation means for the elevator passengers
• Understand the work that is not performed by the elevator company and what is required of the general contractor to have a successful elevator turnover. Each of these items ensures a reliable and safe elevator system for the riding public

After completion of this course, participants will:

• Review enterprise and consumer tech trends will have an outsized impact in the building industry over the next 5 years from a property management perspective
• Learn a few innovative ways technology is transforming the tenant experience. Everything from robots parking cars and delivering room service to environmental controls and predictive maintenance
• Understand how to leverage building data to optimize building management. When we leverage API’s and AI technologies, we can change the game for building managers
• Learn how to best protect your personal data with difficult to hack passwords

The course is designed to give attendees an overview of what Occupant Evacuation Operation (OEO) is. Specific scenarios, benefits and code requirements will be an important part of this training.

The learning objectives for this class are:

• Learn the specifics of how the OEO process works, including how to put OEO evacuation in place and the steps needed to evacuate quickly and efficiently
• Introduce the details of how the current code has been revised to work with OEO and see specifics on what is required to implement
• Learn the brief history of the development of OEO and the reason it is being implemented to improve the evacuation process for the building tenants
• Understand the role that Variable Message Signs (VMS) play during an OEO evacuation and how they are central to helping tenants get out safe
